Training with Tresor Otshudi

Tresor Otshudi is a multilingual dancer, singer, songwriter, and guitar player. He performs mainly R&B and Congolese music. Tresor also fuses elements of R&B and Ndombolo, which is a variation of Congolese Soukous music into an original blend he calls R&B Ndombolo. His father, Pépé Felly Manuaku, is a famous guitar player in Congo. Tresor is the 2011 winner of the very popular French television talent show 100% Phénoménes, a program of channel TF6 in France, where Tresor grew up.

Tresor is a graduate of Choreia, a professional performing arts school in Paris, France. He won with his performance of his original song "R&B Ndombolo." Tresor will teach the students how to dance the style of music and dance that he created called R&B Ndombolo. What is R&B Ndombolo? A dance-fusion, that combines urban moves and Congolese dance! Also during the workshop Tresor will teach Ndombolo and other popular styles of dance from Congo.

Training with Sara VonGillern​

Sara VonGillern has been sharing her love and passion dance for over 15 years. She has danced for musical artists like Ne-Yo, Justin Beiber, Usher, Andy Grammar, Vanilla Ice, Wally Lopez, Jasmine V, Tariah, T. Gouche, Jensen Reed, MC Hammer, LMFAO, Big Time Rush, Dawn Richards, SOFI, Avril Lavigne, Alexz Johnson & comedian Aziz Ansari.

She has taught all over United States as well as Canada, Japan, and Australia. She most recently competed on MTV's All Star Season of "America's Best Dance Crew" Season 8 with returning champions, We Are Heroes. Her versatility was showcased on Fox's"So You Think You Can Dance: Season 3," as a top 8 finalist and in the 50 city US tour following the show in 2007.

She has also performed on shows like "American Idol" and the "Ellen DeGeneres Show," "The Talk" and FOX's TV Sitcom "The New Girl."

20th Anniversary Event Exclusively for Reach Student Dance Company Members

September 26 & 27 we will be hosting a dance convention exclusively for Reach students.  We will be bringing up 3 instructors from Los Angeles’ In Studio Dance Convention to do a workshop for our students. Currently In Studio Dance has conducted dance conventions for some of the top rated dance schools in the US and we are bringing them up to Canada for the first time.  Participation in their conventions would normally cost $150-$250 per student.  In celebration of our 20th anniversary the Schools of Music and Dance are providing this amazing opportunity at no cost to the students.  Exact times for this event will be emailed to all Reach students closer to the date.  The instructors will be:

Stacey Hamada – Contemporary/Lyrical

Born and raised in Mountain View, CA, Stacey began her life as a dancer at the age of 4. She was fortunate enough to be a member of The Dance Company of San Francisco, under the direction of Chris Jacobsen.  Stacey moved to Los Angeles in 2003 to attend her dream school, UCLA.  She received Bachelors Degrees in both Psychology and World Arts and Cultures with a concentration in Dance.  During her years at UCLA, she was a Director for NSU Modern as well as a dancer on the award winning hip-hop group, Team Millennia.   After college, Stacey traveled the world as a principal dancer and company manager on the beautiful Holland America Line cruise ship, the ms Amsterdam.  She danced her way through 4 continents over the span of 2 years.  Stacey is currently represented for dance and on-camera by MSA. Some of Stacey’s other credits include Viennie V, Quadron, and Unity Dance Company (under the direction of Tessandra Chavez), to name a few.  She is currently the co-owner of In Studio Dance and loves to share her passion for teaching with dancers around the country.

Candace Hernandez - Jazz

Originally from Orange County, California, Candace has been working as a professional performer in Los Angeles since age 11. As a model she has worked various industry and runway shows as well as numerous print ads such as Uno Magazine, Power Hair, Paul Mitchell, and United Colors of Benetton. Her dance credits include: Walt Disney/Buena Vista Pictures, WNBA SparKids, Little Romeo, Josie and the Pussycats, Laura Flores, Julion Alvarez, America Sierra, 3BallMty, Straight No Chaser, Billboard Music Awards, and commercials for MCV, Walgreens, and Princess Cruise Lines. She recently completed a three-year contract as Dance Captain and principal dancer for the show Dream at The SandCastle Theatre in Guam, under the direction of Chris Childers.  During her time in Guam, she was also Company Manager of Guam’s top dance school, Fusion Dance Studio. Her students traveled to the Philippines to compete and received several top honors. As a choreographer, her talents have been enlisted by Baldyga Entertainment for The Globe's Drum Jam & Tap Show, Miss Guam USA competition and dance studios both nationally and abroad. As an instructor, Candace is recognized to be an incredible motivator, a dedicated spirit, and a well-versed technician. Whether expressing herself through Jazz, Lyrical, Hip-hop, Contemporary, or Tap, Candace thrives off of her love and passion for dance.

Mikey Trasoras – Hip Hop

Choreographer and dancer Mikey Trasoras serves as Co-Owner and Director of In Studio Dance, which premiered nationwide in 2013. He is also faculty at the prestigious Orange County School of the Arts, his alma mater.  Some of Mikey’s choreography credits include the sizzle reel for Hawaiian Style, Sarah Jaffe’s music video “Glorified High”, Ivivva Athletica YouTube video promotions, Radio Disney's Next Big Thing season 5 kickoff in Hollywood, and for Texas’ premiere collegiate dance team The Apache Belles. Mikey’s students have appeared on So You Think You Can Dance, Abby Lee’s Ultimate Dance Competition, X-Factor, The Grammy’s, Glee, and Dancing with the Stars just to name a few.  Like his freestyle dancing, Mikey’s choreography is intricate and stylistically innovative.  His keen musical ear and captivating artistic expression of lyrics elevate Mikey as a hip hop artist.  Mikey is passionate about teaching and enjoys touring the country. He teaches all levels and expects his students to learn something new each session and you’ll find that his youthful playfulness makes his classes lighthearted and fun.

The School of Music & Dance brought up Kevin Bender for a workshop exclusively for our dancers and teachers.  Kevin is a master teacher featured on cover of Dance Teacher magazine, a backup dancer for Michael Jackson, and owner of Bender Performing Arts in Phoenix, AZ.
