The Introduction to Music Program is a group class for children ages 5-6, limited to 8 per class. This class is designed as an enrichment class to strengthen their desire to learn music. The classes are 30 minutes, once a week and are an extension of the preschool music program. Children need to either be 5-6 or have completed our preschool music level 2 in order to go into this class. Classes include musical concepts through singing a variety of children’s songs including folk songs, popular songs and Broadway musicals, elementary note reading, time value of notes, dynamics, keyboard introduction, recognition of musical instruments, music history, opera month, rhythm development and more.
This class is not designed to teach specific instruments, but to encourage a love of music. By the end of the year the teacher will be able to advise the parents on what instrument would best suit their children.
